Ever since the government established the Interspecies Exchange Bill, various creatures that have thought to be pure myth are now living amongst humans. Some are nurses, some are teachers, heck one of them even became a hit pop sensation in the music industry too!! Right now, you were just at home, doing your chores like you always do every day. But something very unexpected was gonna turn your world upside down forever.



"Door bell sounds and you walk towards the door to answer it"



You: Coming. "You open the door"

Smith: Good afternoon sir. Are you (First Name) (Last Name)?

You: Yes, that's me. Do I know you?

Smith: Oh, how could I forget to introduce myself!! My name is Smith. "She shakes hands with you" I'm an interspecies coordinator for the government.

You: Oooh, your one of those people that bring either a Centaur or a Harpy to their host family so they can take care of them right?

Smith: That's correct. And I'm pretty sure you can guess why I'm here?

You: "You realize something" Wait, your gonna let a mythical creature stay at my house!?

Smith: That's right.

You: Wait, aren't there supposed to be requirements for this?

Smith: Only one: You'll need to study the Interspecies Exchange Bill more. "Searches her bag and gives you a book"

You: "You look at the book's title" Interspecies Exchange Bill For Dummies. "You sweatdrop"

Smith: Well, I best get going. "Starts to walk back to her car"

You: "You notice her leaving" Wait!! Where are you going!?

Smith: I'm gonna pick up your guest. "Enters the car and closes the door" I'll be back in a few hours, so I suggest you start reading while you still have time. "Starts the engine" Ciao!!



And with that, Smith drove back to HQ to pick up your guest. Once she disappeared from sight, you went back inside and then sit on the couch after what you just heard.



You: "You look at the book" Well, guess I have no other choice huh? "You sit up straight and open the book to the first chapter" Chapter 1: Discovery of the liminals.

A few hours later....







A few hours have passed now and you immediately fell asleep when you finished reading chapter twenty-seven. Then, all of a sudden, a knocking on the door occurred and this caused you to wake up by the noise.



Smith(Outside of the door): (M/n), are you there?

You: Yeah. "You yawn and then stand up" Hold on, I'm coming. "You put the book on the coffee table and then head for the door"

Smith: "You open the door" Woah, what happened to your hair?

You: Guess I fell asleep after reading the book your gave me. "You fix your hair and it goes back to the way it used to be" So, where's the guest you were gonna bring over?

Smith: "Looks at her" Come on, don't be shy.



Doing what Smith said, the shy lass came closer to your point of view and it turns out your guest, is a girl!! A Lamia actually!! She had beautiful red hair, gorgeous eyes, and she also has half the body of a snake too.



Smith: Would you like to tell him your name?

Miia: "Struggles to answer" M-My name is Miia. "Bows in respect" I-It's nice to meet you.

You: "You look at her" Something wrong with her?

Smith: No, just a simple case of shyness. This is actually her first time in our world, so from now on, it's your job to teach her how to fit in.

You: If you say so.

Smith: Great!! I'll just go and get her stuff. "Walks towards her car" Feel free to show her around your home if you like!!

You: "You look at her and she looks back at you"





"Awkward stare and silence occurs"



You: "You clear your throat" Anyways, would you like me to show you around my home Miia?

Miia: "Nods to your question"



With that said and done, she entered your house and you showed her around.

"Smith puts down the last of Miia's luggage onto the floor"



Smith: Well, that's the last of it. Think you can handle things from here?

You: Yeah, I think so.

Smith: "She shakes hands with you" Good luck.



With that said and done, Smith exited your house, entered her car, and left. After that, you went back to the dining room table to join Miia for a cup of tea, though things have been awfully quiet since the coordinator left.



"Silence occurs"



"Silence still goes on"



You(In head): Come on dude, think of something to start a normal conversation!! "You think for a moment and you got an idea"

You: So Miia. "She looks at you" Are you comfortable? Is the temperature okay?

Miia: Yes, everything's okay.



"Awkward silence occurs"



Miia: Umm, (Last Name)-san.

You: (First Name) is just fine Miia, there's no need to call me by that.

Miia: Okay. (M/n), can I ask you something?

You: Sure, what is it?

Miia: Why are you so calm?

You: Huh? Why am I calm you say?

Miia: "Nods to your reply" Because since lamia's have the body of a snake, people would freak out upon first look. But for you, it's like your treating me like a normal person.

You: And you hate that?

Miia: No no no!! I like how your treating me right now, it's just that I'm surprised that your not freaked out or anything.

You: Does that explain your strange behavior towards me earlier?

Miia: "Nods to your reply"

You: Don't judge a book by it's cover.

Miia: "Looks at you with a confused expression on her face" Huh?

You: We have a saying around here, "Don't judge a book by it's cover". What it means is that you shouldn't judge someone by how they look, either their ugly, beautiful, etc. The correct way to do so is by judging their actions.

Miia: So your treating me like an equal?

You: "You nod to her reply" Different people may look different in the outside, but not in the inside. Cause in all of us, we're all the same.



For some odd reason, Miia started to blush after hearing what you said.



You: "You stand up" Well, I should probably prepare your bed. It's getting late. "You walk upstairs to your room" Call me if you need anything!!

Miia: Okay. "Looks at the table"

Miia(In head): "Smile appears on her face" I think I'm gonna be just fine here.
